Our Pick for Quarter 4 (2026): Why the ACLU Deserves the Mic (and the Donation)

One of Our Favorite Justice Warriors: The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

Happy Autumn, friends! 🍂 This fall we are spotlighting one of our favorite justice warriors: the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Let’s be real. The ACLU doesn’t do “chill.” Since 1920, they’ve been the legal watchdogs of democracy, and under this current administration, they’ve been busier than a lawyer in a constitutional crisis. From endless lawsuits to defending communities under attack, the ACLU shows up where it matters most.

So why the ACLU? Because when injustice barges through the door, they’re the first to say, “Not today.” Whether it’s defending free speech (even when it makes the powerful squirm), protecting protesters from unlawful arrests, or fighting discriminatory laws meant to silence vulnerable communities, the ACLU has your back.

One standout example: their defense of pro-Palestinian activists who faced unjust detentions. The ACLU demanded due process and made sure voices of dissent weren’t erased. They’ve also fought tooth and nail against attempts to resurrect the Alien Enemies Act, a dusty wartime law that has no business creeping into today’s democracy.

Their work goes far beyond the courtroom. The ACLU educates, equips, and empowers everyday people through resources like Know Your Rights workshops, giving communities the tools to protect themselves when government power crosses the line. They’ve also challenged discriminatory funding cuts in medical research, because civil liberties aren’t just words on paper; they’re about access, equality, and dignity in real life.

And right now, that fight is especially urgent for immigrant communities. As the Trump administration has expanded immigration raids, arrests, detention, and efforts to restrict asylum and birthright citizenship, the ACLU has been fighting back at nearly every turn. They’ve challenged unlawful ICE courthouse arrests, fought attempts to subject immigrants to mandatory detention without due process, defended the legal right to seek asylum, and taken the administration to court over its efforts to undermine birthright citizenship.

At a time when immigrant families are being detained, separated, and forced to live with the fear that an ordinary trip to work, court, school, or home could end in an encounter with ICE, the ACLU continues to show up in court, in communities, and wherever government power threatens fundamental rights.

Here’s where we come in. Every tee, tote, hoodie, tank top, hat, or sweatshirt you grab from Witty Voices United helps us contribute 10% of profit toward the ACLU’s mission. We’ll keep things transparent and share the donation total at the end of the quarter so you know exactly how your support made an impact.

And hey, if your wardrobe is already stacked with activist-approved gear, that’s cool. You can still support the ACLU directly. Here's the direct link to donate. Every bit counts.

So why now? Because defending democracy, protecting civil liberties, and standing with the voiceless is never out of season. In fact, it’s the only look we’re rocking this Autumn.

Explore their work here and join us in making sure the fight for justice stays loud, proud, and impossible to ignore.

For clarity: This post is not sponsored. We have no direct affiliation with the ACLU, we just genuinely admire their work and want to do our part to support their mission.
